A strong sales professional who is focused on generating leads by building and fostering new relationships. This role requires adaptability, intensity, and a genuine passion for business development/sales, client relations and has experience building a territory from scratch. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and self-motivated. They have a strong background in business development and have worked in, and understand, marketing agencies. Not afraid of cold outreach and building a relationship from the ground up, they are willing to follow a sales system and help refine it to make it even better. This is an exciting opportunity as you’ll be the first person in this type of role at BottomLine.

To date, as an organization we have grown organically and you’ll have the opportunity to help us grow and develop this team from the ground up, of course, giving you the opportunity for growth within that model.

  • Has 8+ years of prior experience in a business development role and a min of 3 years of business development experience for an agency
  • Developed a “thick-skin” and isn’t afraid to hear the word “no”; “No” just fuels you forward
  • Isn’t afraid to pick up the phone, call a prospect and doesn’t hide behind emails
  • Has excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Is confident to present and speak to different audiences including C-suite executives
  • MUST be fluent in English (C2 level)
  • Has a strong marketing background and understands marketing research
  • Has good negotiation skills
  • Able to build relationships, influence, and collaborate with multiple parties – in a “non-salesy” and very relationship-based way

What you will be doing in this role:

  • New business development – the main KPI for this role is ultimately new client acquisition
  • Prospect research to identify the right people to reach
  • Make suitable, research-based suggestions and recommendations with clients’ individual challenges & business objectives in mind
  • Collaborate with the Business Development admin team on updating the CRM, highlighting key accounts to engage with, develop proposals based on the strategy agreed on with the client and Brand Strategist
  • Report into our President, Lisa Genovese

What you won’t be doing in this role:

  • Developing & implementing brand strategies (the research team typically handle)
  • Managing the implementation or creative team
  • Completing any marketing implementation tasks
  • Traveling 24/7 for work (we do our best to keep all our work virtual where possible)

BottomLine is a global company with team members across many different time zones. We offer flexibility and work-from-home options, where you will have the freedom of time and place to boost productivity. While we start early here in North America and love the sound of birds chirping and a good sunrise, we mostly wake up before the sun because we work in multiple time zones. This ensures that we have strong team communication and the ability to meet over video conference when required.

Compensation is based upon experience but will be a mix of both a fair base salary ($1300-$2000 CAD/month) and bonus structure plus additional fringe benefits listed above.
